Really selfish suggestion for MAIW packs... ;)

Post by davem »

Evening all,

I'm probably not the only one who rarely (if ever) strays outside their own national airspace so this could apply to other people as well

What are the chances of providing a 'bases visited' list with future MAIW packs?

The reason I ask is that I don't really want to overload my rather lowly PC with packs that never come anywhere near the UK (may be a different scenario when I can collect more pennies for a new rig) but in the meantime I find myslef downloading the packs, temporarily installing them to a separate area and digging thru the traffic bgl with AIFP to see if any UK bases are visited.

While I appreciate it only takes about 10 minutes of my time to go through each one, I was wondering if it would be possible to include a base list with each pack? Although I'd love to see some Serbian Migs and French Rafales over here for TDY, I've not yet had a change to check the former and none of the latter visit the UK on their sorties which would have saved you 35MB of bandwidth as I'd probably not have downloaded it with this curent rig of mine.

Just a thought!
Thanks, Dave.

Hey Dave,

Graham King has been working on a form that will do what you're looking for and more. I just need to find some time to implement it so hang on :smt001

Dave,

Having been "road-testing" the form that Greg referred to, I can confirm that it does what you want and a whole lot more besides.

And Graham/Greg just have to get it to play nice with all the popular web browsers these days, Chrome, FireFox, IE7/8/9, etc.

Hi all,

just wondered if there was any update on this feature with the current flurry of packages would be a very handy thing to have to see which if any of the flights visit the UK and its bases?

Dave Graham does the updates for that site and he is having computer issues right now so there will be no updates for a while till he can get things sorted out on his machine. Thanks for your patience.
