Ah well! Economics is hitting everyone. Hope they are able to field the new team with the Yaks. But cash drain is cash drain. Kinda expect the same to happen here pretty soon. New SecDef mentioned the need for more belt tightening as almost the first think out of his mouth after being sworn in.

The same has been told for our Frecce Tricolori some time ago, but they have not been disbanded yet, and some say they could replace the ageing MB-339s with brand new MB-346 (AKA Yak-130). On the other side, the number of performances has been reduced in the last two or three years. Keeping ten machines flying for fun without being employed for defense is too expensive in a country where public expenditure has always been way higher than revenues.
