FSDS Night Lights

Post by flynby »

Using XP w/SP3, FSDS 3.5.1, and FS2004. I created a hanger following your tutorial. But alas, I decided to add a feature not included. I want to have a light that would come on during the dusk_night hours and reflect off a aircraft or vehicle.

Searching the internet, I find many tutorials for FSDS and FSX. And something called FSTweakX, I think.
There are still many FS2004 users still around. Is there a way to make this feature work in FS9? I am completely computer illiterate when it comes to something called creating "attach points" and so forth.

I have a older version of FSDS 2.0. But during installation, I get this error message: Direct X error(887602f8) Render target buffer lost. No idea what that means. So, I cannot use the older version that had the _LM night feature included.
That just made it too easy.

Could you shed some light on this for me? No pun intended!!
Thank you

FSDS won't do attach points for whatever reason, at least not for FS9 that I know of . No matter what you do, you won't get a light effect to reflect off of anything in FS9.

The best you can do is to add a separate lighting effect with and XML script, then incorporate a night texture with a light splash for your object in FSDS. That's about the closest you're going to get to what you are trying to do.
