Royal Navy may buy VTOL F-35 after all

Post by VulcanDriver »

A leaked MoD report says that converting the UK's new carriers to Cat and Trap would be too costly and complicated so the MoD are looking at re-ordering the F-35 S/VTOL version even though it cannot carry the RAF's 2000lb bombs. And it means that the French cannot cross-deck as was originally planned, despite the UK-French agreement on Navel co-operation of 2010.

Also HMS Queen Elizabeth, currently building, will be mothballed immediately after her launch to save money. Bet the Queen is really glad to her that in her 60th Jubilee year! I would imagine Prince Philip being outspoken at the best of times and ex RN Officer said a few choice words!

I've heard of a letter sent by some shadow defence minister, but where is this report?
