Creating an Exclude file

I downloaded Exclude Builder to see about getting rid of the bridge that shows up at KMEI, and I think I'm doing it correctly; however the bridge still shows up when I load the airport. I tried the same thing at Frankfurt-Hahn (EDFH) to get rid of some of the buildings and they are showing up. Any suggestions?

Those objects are autogen and can be difficult to get rid of using an exclude.

Have you tried excluding "all" objects?

There is a way to exclude autogen using a polygon but that is sort of a last resort.

Exclusions areas in FS9 are rectangular.
ADE9X allows you to create exclusion rectangles, just draw them over the airport you're working on and the autogen trees and buildings will disappear, except roads, rivers, light poles and more "radicated" stuff.
Another way to creat an exclusion is using bglcomp.exe (tried only once). You just need to write a txt file into which you will enter different strings and the coordinates of the upper left and lower right vertexes of the exclusion rectangle. Compile and get a bgl. It's exactly the same thing you do with ADE9X, with the only difference that in the latter case the process is automatic and the exclusion is included in the airport BGL. ADE's last version allows you to get separate bgl files though, I think it is also possible to get exclusion bgls alone.

ADE won'r provide a file with just exclusions in it. If the compile is split then excludes and scenery object placement are in the same file. The reason is that this ensures that the excludes are read before any objects placed by the user in the project. If the excludes were in a separate file then there is a risk that they would remove also the new object placements that the user wants to keep.

Thanks Jon for the explanation, I'm trying to remove the autogen bushes still from NAS China Lake in FSX using your ADE.

I was also trying to use ADE9X to exlcude autogen trees and bushes from a personal version of Camp Bastion in afghanistan. I tried putting a terrian polygon over the airport and chose an "arid" Land class however when I go to compile the airport I get a Message saying "The system cannot find the file specified" and im still left with trees and bushes all over my aprons. Can someone explain how to exclude the autogen?

Are you trying to make that terrain polygon using ADE or SBuilder????

ADE

I don't think ADE can create these kind of polygons. Only Sbuilder can do terrain polys.

I have tried this and when I compile the airport a message pops up saying "The system cannot find the file specified". This message only comes up when I create a terrian poly like shown in the picture.

ok try this one Flatten Mask Class Map ExcludeAutogen

I gave up on FSX years ago so I am a little rusty sorry.

I just tried that and I still get the same message. I pretty much get that message for all terrain polygons.
:(

And no apologies, any help is greatly aprreciated

If ADEX is reporting that it cannot find a file when trying to compile terrain elements then check that you have specified the path to Shp2Vec.exe correctly. Go to Settings >Options > Folder Tab and click the Find button. Terrain elements use Shp2Vec as the compiler. BglComp is used for airport and scenery objects.

Chris,
Did you ever get rid of the bushes from the China Lake scenery? I was able to create an exclude polygon. It worked for me.
