BC Strikes again!!

Post by delbydoo »

Hi all,
It's been a little while since Brian has released a scenery, but never fear - he's like a boomerang, and we all know that Charlie Drake got that one wrong (sorry - oldie Brit humour).

Well, he's done another scorcher, and this time it's one of those land-based "ships" that the Royal Navy are so fond of......ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I give you (insert drum roll here).............HMS Heron. Or more commonly known as - RNAS Yeovilton.

Now, this is a modern representation of Yeovilton, so lots and lots of parking spaces for helicopters. Unfortunately, there are no current fully-AI models of the Commando, Sea King AEW, Lynx or Merlin (all types present at Yeovilton) BUT when I release my Sea Harrier paints next weekend (FRS1 only at the mo), it should fill up quite nicely.

There are still a couple of niggles to sort out but it is 99% done, so I will up this to avsim and my site along with the Shars at the same time.

Oh that's fantastic. Well done. It's really good to see that my Royal Navy AI has got a home.

That's made my day.

This scenery is not custom-made, it has been constructed using the very fine MAIW libraries, which does not include that building, so unfortunately no, there will be no museum.
You can view these sceneries as "quick fixes" if you like - they fill a gap where there is no scenery or where the default airfield is that bad that something needs to be done.
I believe I gave a rough estimate on its release in my first post.

Many thanks for all the comments.

Started off as a small project but it kept growing and growing. Problem was where to stop. Not perfect by any means but a place to park aircraft which is what we need.

Sadly no choppers but plenty of fixed wing.

JY's models are fantastic and it is the likes of Johns work that spurs me on. I am always envious and in awe when someone brings out a fantastic authentic scenery.

Mine well !! I am still learning and a little better than a lump of concrete to park aircraft.

I mentioned in another post that without Scruffyducks ADE and the great MAIW Object Libraries we would not be able to produce our projects.

I think you will enjoy RNAS Yeovilton when Daryl does his magic and uploads it.

I shall rephrase that statement......there are no models of the Commando for us mere mortals, only those stashed away on some developers desktop/lappy

Last reference I saw about any other UK Sea Kings was by your good self nearly five years ago http://www.militaryaiworks.com/newforum ... +sea+kings

Hello Brian. Not sure I understand the folder structure in the file you've posted on AVSIM. There are 2 bgl files languishing outside the Scenery folder with no indication as to where they belong. Any ideas?

Alan

Sorry Alan, that's probably my fault and some lousy housekeeping! I cannot check for sure until I get home, but those extra files are probably rejects from a bit of tweaking. I will confirm later on.

Hi Alan.

Please ignore the two files outside the package. Those were the original VTPP and VTPX files that I sent to Daryl. He kindly re did them for me and these two were not deleted. Just use the ones within the main folder mate.
All systems should then be go.

Brian

Thank you for the scenery, looks great.
Just a question for the scenery experts; I have the Skijump installed from UKMIL for the UK2000 scenery, I moved the files to the new scenery, it shows ok but the placement is a few meters off.
Is there a way to adjust the bgl file so it aligns with the new scenery ?

OK, in regards to the two extra bgls in the Yeovilton folder - delete them, they are the original background and exclude polys which are no longer needed.

Ed - I wouldn't have thought so, unless we actually have the model of the ski ramp as an object in a library, I'm under the impression that once co-ordinates have been set, they're set in stone. I could be wrong, if someone more qualified could answer? Maybe one of the UKMIL scenery guys may be able to help you, as it's their object. :D
