New C-5M Super Galaxy

Post by flynby »

I just downloaded the new MAIW_PSAI_C-5M Super Galaxy.zip. I am also using a program called SAMM 2202 to make static aircraft. If using MCX, the Static C-5M has to be raised 3.070 ft so the wheels will be on the ground. The AI C-5M itself is perfect. It is the SAMM causing the problem.
Please look at the picture and tell me how I can correct the ladder issue. It is on the rear exit also. Thank you.

I *thought* it was the SAMM causing the problem but upon further checking, it is not the problem.

Are you saying that the C-5M is 3' off the ground at all your bases?

Why not just make a simple AFD file and write a simple flight plan to make use of the actual model?

That way you avoid all the problems of trying to convert an AI model into scenery.

Firebird, when you create a *static c-5m* with samm 2202, the wheels are underground. But the AI itself is perfect.
Mike JG, I think the best answer is you don't have to spend time making flightplans and still having eye candy.
On one apron I will have 24 F-4 Phantoms. On another apron there will be more F-4's at the same airport.
To me, that is a big flightplans.
And thank you both for you help.

When we've done this in our past packages, we actually go back to the model source file and convert it to pure scenery.

Using the proggy you are talking about is sort of a compromise. With that many aircraft I can understand not wanting to go through the flight plan method. Unfortunately that program cannot handle the way the AI models are set up and you get the errors you are seeing.

No real good solution if you can't alter the model's source file.

I have used SAMM to convert user flyable FS9 aircraft to scenery objects and for them it works fine, but as Mike indicates it doesn't work well to convert AI specific FS9 aircraft to scenery objects. I suggest that you find suitable user flyable FS9 aircraft to convert to the desired scenery objects with SAMM.

    The "69" in the aircraft s/n indicates when the aircraft was originally built. i.e. 1969

    "9AS" = 9th Airlift Squadron

    "436AMW" = 436th Air Material Wing

    Helo,

    I have a question again.

    Why do some C5s of the same unit/base different callsigns?

    For example 22th AS 60th AMW TRAVIS AFB, California

    Some C5s have in the aircraft.cfg the callsigns FRED, REACH, EVAC

    Why ?

    I saw that in the aircraft.cfg the atc_parking code is like 22AS

    Is it realistic if I use for all C5s the code RCH for air mobility command?

    Thank you

    P.S.

    The C5As for TRAVIS AFB have all the old emblem of Travis (yellow and blue colors). If I look on planepicures the TRAVIS based C5As have white Travis emblem.

    Will you make an update for the textures when you have time?

    Thank you for answering

    It's all dependent on what type of mission they are flying and who they are flying in support of.

    according to planespotter.net there are 78 C-5s active. And 39 are stored. What will happen to the stored aircraft?

    Some will be kept in reserve just incase they need them back on active duty. The others will be stripped for parts to keep the rest of the fleet air worthy.
