I was wondering if anyone edits their flightplans to reflect semi-permanent deployments, especially for US assets.
For instance, the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing is currently deployed in Southwest Asia. It consists of:
12th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron (RQ-4s from Beale)
99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron (U-2s from Beale)
908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron (KC-10s)
968th Expeditionary Airborne Air Control Squadron (E-3s)
At that same base, the French Air Force has Rafales, a C-135, an E-3F, and an Atlantique II stationed there.
Do you take a few jets from each unit and assign them to another field? Do you keep them at the home field and "deploy" them for a couple of days or so? Or do you not even worry about it?

I usually just create new traffic files for the deployed locations. That way I have jets at home station and overseas. Truth be told, the USAF on my machine probably has 5 times the aircraft that the really USAF has.

I simulate deployments for jets at NAS Lemoore, otherwise I will have too many aircraft on the ground and in patterns.

That was my next step, since the Euro TSP has come into effect (DM A-10s recently). In years past all my USN/USMC squadrons are separate, I can pull them out when they deploy using info from the gonavy.jp site. Helps flying into Lemoore or Oceana with the framerates.

No I don't. I don't know who is deployed and where, so it is not going to happen in my sim.

That's EXACTLY why I do deployments. While I'm still working out how to simulate aircraft carrier deployments, I do sent aircraft overseas and fly from some of those areas where I know we have a presence (not hard to find, but I'm an OPSEC kind of guy). In many instances, I generally just pull a couple of aircraft from each squadron (i.e. F-15Es from Seymour Johnson, Mountain Home, and maybe Lakenheath to form an expeditionary fighter squadron at a deployed location) instead of a full squadron since we can really only simulate one week's worth at a time.flyerkg wrote:I simulate deployments for jets at NAS Lemoore, otherwise I will have too many aircraft on the ground and in patterns.
Thanks to all for letting me know how you do it (or if you do it at all). My ADD's kicking in, so I'm updating a lot of fields with all of these squadron movements and expeditionary units, so forgive me if some of my projects are on hold. I'll get some of 'em out once I get a feel for some of these movements, many having to do with the F-35 coming online.

I created a traffic file For bagram AB consisting of f16s and f15s and other transport units
