Where are the RENAMED AFCAD's

Post by col1948 »

I ran ScanAFCAD for duplicates, it found about a dozen, I didn't select to delete them, I renamed them ****BGL.BAK
When I go to the airport selection screen and input one of the duplicate codes there isn't any airport showing.

For example one of the duplicates was EGVJ Bentwater so I renamed it.
I get the airport selection screen, I input EGVJ and no airport.
So how can it have been a duplicate and where is it to restore it, I have looked in the addon scenery folder but nothing?

I wish I had never ran that program.

I would suggest going to this site https://www.voidtools.com/ and downloading the latest version of Everything.
Fantastic search engine, a lot better than MS have ever produced. You can even set it to dynamically add removable volumes.

Then just search for EGVJ, as an example, that will find it/them as quick as flash. I have used it for a few years now and it is a portableapp as well.

Steve! Or should I call you 'Hero'
Wow that program is great, thank you very much, it took me about 7-10 minutes to get it all back, some of those AFCAD,s where in places hidden away a bit.
As for the ScanAFCAD program I was puzzled why it said those AFCAD,s were duplicate when they was not, good job I just renamed them and not deleted them, kind of dangerous really.

I find it indispensable and not only for FS stuff. So small, so lightweight and so fast. The amount of times I have found things that I wasn't sure about a name.

The other thing is that unless there has been an update then Scanafd is almost next to useless now. The reason being is that it only finds afcad files, it does not find files created by AFX nor ADE. I just tested this.

So what you need is utility that scans for all 3 types of files. If somebody knows one then please let us know.

The scan tool you would have liked to use exists as well. Jon Masterson (maker of ADE) has made with Simple Airport Scanner a little tool for exactly this purpose.
Cheers,
