AI AW-139 Heli

Post by col1948 »

I was looking for an AW-139 heli and found one on Hovercontrol, I was going to use it as an AI then I found in the base pack there is an AI version, also a few textures for it in a couple of other zips, some military and government.

If you already know of this then sorry for the post.

Thank you, that's potentially good news; always on the look out for a new AI heli..

I believe you are right, Chris. I painted two for the USCBP a couple of years ago using the flyable one. I tried to use the AI one and it was okay as long as you were within 1/8 mile or less. Any further away it would disappear. It still showed up on the "radar" but was in "stealth mode" visually.

It has 4 LODs from about 16.000 to a cube of 12 polys (LOD 3 at 3830)

But I wasn't able to view it in the sim. Usual test airports, usual FP, but It doesn't show up.

At least from an Italian point of view, there are some repaints for it on http://gianlucag78.altervista.org/Velivoli.htm
This model use the "Non AI" version and the Stemme air file, but the tail rotor is freezed and doesn't move.

I have this setup at Casement (Ireland) for the Air Corps but it has never shown its face.

Much thanks

Works for me in FS9. The AI model rotors disappear when they are still close to the viewer so I swapped them out for the full models (MIL in the case of the IAC). The full models still have 4 LODs and not many more polys than the AI model (still about 28000 though). I still get good fps with all 6 IAC in the shot. I use stemme 2 air/cfg conversion, my fp's are IFR and runway pattern alt 1000ft. Having said that, the prop_slow animation is a bit naff though.

I ended up altering mine too, I kept the contact points and lights but used the cfg from the aia emb 120 and I also used the air file for the 120.
All the aircraft work, taxi, take off flight and landing no problem and I haven't had any rotors vanishing.
As hermit says above, I've not had any issues with frame rates or lag, stutters etc.
