Fsx advice needed please!

Post by jonf45 »

Hi, have been away from flight sim for a while, and was thinking of getting fsx. I see now that it seems impossible to buy the disc new so a download from steam seems the way forward. So basically I just want to know if the maiw fsx packages work with the steam edition?
Also, I think i saw somewhere that you can make the ai aircraft have "correct" sounds rather than the standard sounds (which were always very quiet in fs9!), which bearing in mind I enjoy sitting and watching the ai come and go, would be a major plus! Is this the case? I've had a quick search but there's so much info I got a tad confused!!!
Any help/advice gratefully received!
Many thanks
Jon

If you install FSX-SE stand alone (not side by side with FSX boxed) you should not have problems with AI packages. If there is an issue you can unpack them into a temporary folder and transfer the files manually.

To get the best AI traffic sound, change this in the FSX.CFG file:

[SOUND]
SOUND_LOD=0

SOUND_LOD controls AI audio fidelity:
0 = use AI aircraft soundai.cfg
1 = use generic sound playing an idle loop depending on the engine type.
