Help finding a waypoint bgl file

Post by Joseph29 »

I installed the JYAI P-8's that are based at Patuxent River. In the flightplans there is a waypoint AC05, does anyone know where I can find the bgl file for this waypoint? I looked in the original MAIW Patuxent River package and the updated 2015 package and it wasn't in either one of them. What other package could this waypoint be in?

Also looking for 3FWA. It's not in the original Great Lakes ANG package.

AC05 is the USS Eisenhower that is in the carr2006 package.

The P-8 should do an IFR approach to the carrier but it should disappear because the parking spots in AC05 will be too small for a P-8.

However from my understanding of how the AI works (I can only speak for FS9) it is not necessary to have all airports/waypoints that are in flightplans as bgl files on your system.
As long as the airport/waypoint is listed in the airport file of the flightplan the flightplan will function properly no matter whether it is actually available as a bgl file.
If the airport/waypoint is not included in the airport file of the flightplan it is not even possible to compile the flightplan with TTools.
If there is no bgl file for an airport/waypoint the AI will still fly to the position and from the position that is listed in the airport file. You can call this a virtual waypoint.
The AI will disappear at or near this virtual waypoint. It will reappear when it is time to fly from the virtual waypoint to its next waypoint/airport.
This is more or less the same behaviour as for a waypoint bgl file that only contains a small runway. Since there are no parking spots in that waypoint bgl file the AI will also disappear. It will reappear whe it is time to fly to the next waypoint/airport.

I am deliberately using the concept of virtual waypoints in my sceneries.

I am always wondering about all these threads here on the forum in which people search for certain waypoints.
My assumption is that some of the flight planning tools check that all airports/waypoints in a flightplan are actually available as BGL files?

Thanks for the explanation. I did not know that you don't need a actual waypoint bgl file installed.

PS: I am using P3D now.

I have used virtual waypoints almost exclusively for about the last 5 years or so and if you don't ever watch FS9 AI aircraft in flight from takeoff to a waypoint(s) and on to landing at their destination airport using Traffic View Board they work fine.

I'm using P3D v3.4 and 4.1 almost exclusively now and virtual waypoints work fine in them.
