Matrix slows Sim launch time

Post by Hazza »

Hi All, looking for some advice please. I am using P3Dv4.4. If I use Matrix my launch time for the Sim jumps from 2 mins to 9 mins. Any idea what could be causing this?

Cheers

Yes. A massive amount of AI traffic. ;)

Nothing you or I can do about it. Start the sim, make a cup of tea and come back.

It is exactly the same as with FS9 and FSX. The more addons you have the slower it loads.

If you want to occasionally load P3D rapidly (for instance, if checking out a new aircraft or new scenery) and don't want add-ons to slow the program's launching time, you can inactivate add-ons such as MAIW, Accu-Feel, and Ultimate Traffic Live.

To do this, I've set up alternative versions of add-ons.cfg as textfiles (at
C:\Users\Valued Customer\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
on my computer), and copy the version I want to become the active version before launching P3D.
Here's the coding to inactivate the MAIW add-ons on my computer:

[Package.7]
PATH=C:\Users\Valued Customer\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\MAIW Global Libraries
ACTIVE=false
REQUIRED=false
[Package.8]
PATH=C:\Users\Valued Customer\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\MAIW Region North America
ACTIVE=false
REQUIRED=false

(This simply changes ACTIVE=true to ACTIVE=false)

I keep a textfile called "add-ons.cfg---nothing-true.txt" with these inactivated add-ons in the same folder as add-ons.cfg, and save the nothing-true version as "add-ons.cfg" when I want a minimal launch time.

Of course, I also have a different textfile called "add-ons.cfg---with everything active.txt" which I can save as the active version of add-ons.cfg when I want to activate all the add-ons...

Hope this helps.
