The Osprey on the Wasp

Post by GZR_Sactargets »

This is from a forum, but the photos are excellent. The commentary in the forum is just part of the site-so you can ignore that.

Some bits and pieces of info I found on deployment & future plans.

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/navy/doc ... -ch3a.html (Navy Procurement program-scroll down for all types-including OSPREY. Article says 360 for USMC and 50 for the USAF).

http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123022224 (USAF will have the Osprey at Cannon AFB, Eglin AFB, and Hurlburt AFB).

Thanks for the information. Could not find a freeware AI model. Does it exist already?

I don't have it, but the Alphasim V-22 gets good reports on most forums.

FS2004 Gauge--VTOL/Hover

[ Download | View ]
Name: rcbhca20.zip Size: 218,064 Date: 10-05-2007 Downloads: 259
FS2004 Gauge--VTOL/Hover for Alphasim's FS9 V22-Osprey v1.2. This freeware gauge adds new VTOL and hover features to Alphasim's V22 Osprey. Besides true vertical takeoff and landing, it allows you to fly forward, backward, sideways and turn, while in a hover. This solution is based on overriding the normal FS flight dynamics while in a hover; in short, it's a VTOL andhover FDE coded in a gauge. Special thanks to 1. Doug Dawson, who created a gauge that provides for overriding FSX variables from an XML gauge; 2. Nick Needham, for his rotorwash effects. Requires FSUIPC3 (registered or unregistered, not included). Great link, I was trying to get out to the base overhere in Iraq where these are deployed to. I havent seen them flying yet.

No AI V22 yet, as the above mentioned files fly ok in FS, but you have to have the RCB gauges for them to hover. These FDE's would not work for AI as is. I was thinking of using the same airfile for the helos on Vlads V22, but would need to change cruise speed.

Kevin's birds look great. Have to get a Cannon AFB afcad and the AI traffic laid on. Also will have to tweak Hurlburt & Eglin. Should make an excellent add to the packages already done (Hurlburt). GO KEVIN!!
