No more A-10's @ Pope

Post by a10c130 »

Just thought i'd ipdate you on the fact that the last A-10 departed Pope AFB this past Thursday bound for upgrade to A-10C standard or on to Moody AFB. We're all C-130's again with a mix of remaining active and reserve. Thought you all might want to update your AI world as well.

Merry Christmas!

Hey Jay,

Yea that scenery is still "in the works". I do plan on finishing it one of these days. So what's left at Pope, 16 or so C-130s and anything else?

I guess once we know what to include in a Pope package, I can get motivated to finish everything.

I'll go into work Monday and see what the exact breakdown is of active and reserve Herks. We still have several spec ops King Airs, a few CN-235's, some Caravans, and a PC-12. Today we had the almost weekly World DC-10 appearance that made my day. I really miss being on the flightline. I've been laid up ever since i went under the knife to remove some cancer in january. In fact, the Air Force has decided to retire me 20 days shy of 18 years. I only have a month left so if you need any info or pics from Pope for your scenery, let me know soon!

take care and Happy Holidays!

Any additional pics are always welcome. Hope you are feeling well, especially during the holidays.

I plan to finish the scenery next month as I have a bunch of time off. So once that's done, the package won't be far behind.

It's sad to see these bases get gutted like this.

Never fear ... Green Ramp is here!

Until the 82nd ABN shuts down, Pope AAF will remain the airdrop mecca!

P.S. Can you say C-27J?
