Skybus was a very bad idea from the start. They paid their Captains $65/hr and their FO's $35/hr. That's less than what my RJ airline pays. It's a disgrace to the piloting profession.

It seems we are not that far away when Emirates and Aeroflot are the last carriers probably.

That's not Davis Monthan(KDMA). It's Mojave(KMHV). To the best of my knowledge KDMA doesn't house civilian airliners.

That is a funny idea Chris. Have you seen the scenery for Mojave? It's freeware and I think photoreal, so looks pretty cool with all the airliners lined up.

...Just wondering, what does that equate to in annual salary?

Well do the math. $65/hr, most airlines usually guaranteed what, 70 hrs per month? So 65x70 = $4550.00/month, x12 months = $54,600.00/yr. I don't know if Skybus was any different but most airlines usually pay a per diem of around $1.00 per hour also so 70x1 = 70, x12 = $840.00

$54,600 + $840.00 = $55,440/yr

I dont know how many hours Skybus guranteed, or what if any their per diem is, this is just an estimate. Don't forget overtime pay too which I have no idea a) what it is and b) if anyone actually was able to collect it.

By the same calculations FOs make $30,240/yr. Terrible.

2nd Lt's in the USAF make about 26-28K per year, BUT their housing is paid for and they also get a food allowance.

Yes it is Mojave (KMHV). I just took the default afcad and made a bunch of parking spots off of one of the taxiways (using google earth)

I have Mojave scenery... not sure if it is what you're referencing though:

Nice! Yea that's the one I was referring to. That's a lot of work to get all those AI on those spots, looks great.

On the pilot salary front, basically take the hourly rate and add three zeros to the end and that is roughly what you will make for the year factoring in per diem etc.

Most airlines are paying between $1.50-$3.00/hour per diem these days. Each carrier pays slightly more or less depending on their pilot contract. But as you can see, $65,000 a year to command an Airbus full of people is an insult at best.

I don't know much about airline pay so I'm not sure what an "acceptable" pay would be but 65 grand is more than senior captains make in the military who are flying planes full of passengers, full of weapons, into war zones, etc...

They'd be more than willing to take 65k!

You can't compare military pay to civilian pay for...anything.
