WOW. Score one for Delta they just got a big chuck of the US-Asia market....not to mention a big chunk of the US market lol.

No way lol. Both are too powerful, taking each other on in a hostile takeover would be suicide for both of them. And like I said they're both too powerful so neither would want to go quietly. Plus, if that did happen then either the US or GB will be losing their flag carrier....then what lol??

No hostile take over, a friendly merger. It was mooted a couple of years ago, enough that it got Branson up in arms over the suggestion. The sticking point was the US insistence that no foreign body can own over 25% of an airline and have no voting power on the board.

As for the flag carrier, the French bought the Dutch one no problem, and are trying to buy the Italian one. Those days are slowly going.

And remember the Lufthansa took over Swiss. And they bought stakes in several other airlines. I am waiting for when they will announce another complete takeover. I am sure this will happen sooner or later.
