It is not free on Direct TV.

Back when I had DirectTV I found that a call was quickly answered, and the request quickly delt with. I added a channel or two as ala carte, instead of upgrading to a more expensive package, and the process was quick and easy. They said it might be a few hours before it became effective, but by the time I had hung the phone up, the channel was there. Over all a real pleasure. Wish I had it back. Retired now and can/t afford either Sat or Cable, and have hight speed internet. Guess which is more important to me!
