AIG vs AIA B757

Post by 1st Shirt »

Hello All,

Not exactly military related, but are there any comparisons between the AI Group's model of the 757-200 and the newly revised AI Aardvark model?

I've downloaded some AIG and took a look at the paints and they seem comparable but how do they do in the AI skies? I'd only like to take the time to switch out all those paints and models if the AIG one was markedly better.

Thanks for any opinions!

There was a discussion about the merits of both models when the AIG one was released. Some figures were posted here that showed that whilst a very good model the AIG one was not as user friendly as the AIA one.

Subsequent to that AIG updated theirs to improve frame rates, which seems to back the figures up, however the new version is still not as fps friendly as the new AIA model. It should also be pointed out in the interest of fairness that the new AIA model has a slightly bigger hit than the original as well, as it has more features.

Now in reality, we chose to stay with the AIA model as we used the original, it did have the slight advantage for fps and changing to the AIG gave us no advantages. This is not to say that AIG have produced a duff model, far from it.

It comes down to personal choice.

I hope that I have remembered the thread accurately, and that I haven't put inaccuracies into anyones mouth.

If you are overly concerned with framerates use the AIA model. If you are overly concerned with with detail and visual accuracy , use the AIG model.

Thanks for your thoughts, I was of the opinion that both models were pretty close to each other, at least in visual details.

As I've got almost every paint for the AIA 757 loaded I wasn't too keen on replacing them all (as in the FSPainter to EVAI A32x series!) unless there was a fair amount of value added.

I guess in this case it's a matter of 'Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'. In any case as far as military models go there is no question - if it has MAIW in the title it's a keeper!
