Delta Junction/Ft Greeley Problems

Post by jetmax »

I have been working on a secert test  base in Alaska and recently encountered a problem. I have been modifying the AFCAD and adding scenery to Delta Junction/Ft Greeley [Allen AAF], AK, US (PABI). Everything was going fine until the other night. When I started up FS2004 I went in and selected a flight starting at PABI. When I hit "Fly Now" the FS2004 spalsh screen comes up, then after 5 sec FS2004 quits and I am back to the desktop.

I then decided to start a flight at PAED and fly up to PABI. Everything went well until I was about 10 miles from the PABI when then again FS2004 quits and I am back to the desktop.

So I am stumped. I have removed all of the modifications I have made and went back to the default scenery and AFCAD but still No Joy.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jetmax,
I had a similar thing happen to me once after working on a scenery afcad for a weapons range here in the UK.
The only way around it was to reinstall FS. If I recall from reading threads on this sort of thing it happens if a texture file gets corrupted.

Not much help I am afraid but good luck with it I hope you get it sorted.
Regards,
steve.

Won't a corrupt texture file also cause this problem?
I believe I've read somewhere it could.

Kevin, I believe you're right. I had the same problem at Coningsby, every time I tried to star a flight there - or - fly to Coningsby I crashed to desktop.
I think it was anywhere within 50 miles.

I had been messing with some of the textures for the Tornados. When I dumped all the tornados and reinstalled them - problem solved!

This might not seem like much help Jetmax, but checking that out might be better than reinstalling FS.

Hope you can get it straight.

Only a thought, had the same problem and have norrowed it down to either a duplicate AFCAD or a conflict with mesh terrain.
