A sneak peak at what we have been working on the last couple of months. This is about 50% complete:

Looks great! Are those weathered roofs photoreal or is that a paint process?

I assume you mean the hanger roofs. They are heavily edited but were originally taken from a photo.

How I hate those great teasers when I need to wait a longer period still

BTW: I have exchanged my laptop HDD in favour of a bigger sized one. This caused me to download some "Bits" updating/expanding my AI traffic.

Ian has spent a long time in the preparation stage, so although his statement about it being 50% complete can be slightly misleading.

What I can say about it is that this version of Coningsby is far more detailed than the original and is now accurate in the sense of using satellite images now and yet decreases the impact upon your frame rate despite having fencing added as part of the base.

You will definitely notice the upgrade and only in good ways, and shouldn't be too long Sprocky :D .

Thanks for the comments. :) I have spent the last two months building this scenery and it is starting to look like Coningsby. When I say 50 % complete it may be misleading as there is a lot modelled. However time wise it is about half way there, it will take another two months to finish in my estimation. The reason is because of the detail I am putting into this. I have 500 or so on base pictures so I am putting them to good use  .

Once finished it will be released promptly as I have had Steve(Firebird) testing updates since the start so any problems are dealt with as I go. So far frames are higher than the previous version despite having over twice as many objects. I would like to point out for those users with FSX that this does work in FSX. However performance isnt as good but I will fix that later in the year when I recompile all the models for FSX.

Also on the days that I get fed up with this scenery I am working on a new version of Lakenheath which like CGY is built using none of the original sceneries models. I recently had a on base visit to Lakenheath and took 500+ pictures of buildings so I have enough material to improve on the old scenery.

Cheers

Ian

It is always spooky looking at scenery from FS that you drive past in real life almost every day - this looks fantastic rocket and the textures you have used look really good - have to say though, hope the Tornado shot was done carefully, they must have been on a ladder in the middle of the road!! Mind you with some of the people that go down there that wouldn't surprise me.....great work, look forward to getting my hands on this. 8) 8)

A few new screens of the current progress. I would think the scenery is around the 70% complete mark now. Frames are still remaining good and I havnt even begun LOD'ing all my models yet.

A few new screenies, not done too much the last few weeks, especially this week as have been enjoying the heat wave. The bright blocks are untextured models before anyone asks lol.

Very impressive work, pushing new boundries......again!

Sometime ago i asked if Mildenhall was being considered, as you have mentioned when you're bored you switch to a new version of Lakenheath, is EGUN getting some magic too??

keep up the good work!

Unfortunatly I have very little material to work from with Mildenhall. If I come accross the opportunity for a base visit like I did with Lakenheath I might consider it if I get enough material.

I am turning my attention to the redundant USAFE bases over here once CGY is finished as I have a big interest in them. I also have 1000s of pics of them.

Great Work There Indeed,

I So Hope This Will Work In Fsx 8)

One More Thing Is There Any Chance In Modelling Horncastle As Its A Famous Land Mark Near Coningsby And Maybe A Few Spotters And Cars Outside The Base :)

Is There Perimeter Fencing :?

Great Work,

Hi there,

I have been helping Ian test v2 so I can answer a few questions, without putting words into his mouth, as obviously his word is the definitive one.

Yes Ian is doing an FSX version. No there has been no talk or plans to do any scenery of Horncastle. Yes it does have perimeter fencing.

On the subject of cars and spotters, I believe that there will be cars but I can't be more definite than that,
Steve
