I've got an idea for a bit of a few simple models that could lend itself to a library of objects that would be very useful for a scenery package I am in the process of developing and could be useful to other scenery designers. The inspiration for the package or package extension comes from recent packages and comments in threads relating to Eglin and Vlieland.
Though I don't do gmax or fsds, I'm estimating that the entirety of the modelling would take less than 4 hours work due to the simplicity of the models needed. Seriously, nearly all of the models are small objects, almost entirely flat surfaces (minus 1 "pole"), and 90% of the details are/would be in the textures - something that I can help with.
If anyone is interested in further information, please pm me.
(Before someone suggests I try gmax myself... save your breath. I've got a visual processing issue as a result of a head injury. 3-D design doesn't compute for me right now.)

Ford, what are you looking for to be modeled? MAIW has established quite a nice library of objects already. No need to duplicate work if you don't have to.

I was thinking of "populating" some of the aerial ranges around the world. The FS2k2 Vllieland scenery does not translate/work in FSX at all but the idea is good and there is good data to recreate it in FSX/update it for FS2k4.
Eglin, Nellis and even places like Ft. Sill have aerial ranges which could use some updating... in FS9 and FSX. I started thinking about this when I began working on relandclassing the Eglin range(s)/Florida panhandle area and then the recent mention of Vlieland made the usefulness of such a library apparent to me.
Some of the simple things I'm looking for being modelled are basic targets - rectangular, triangular, that sort of thing. There are a few other items, but still pretty simple things - like tires for bomb circle marking. The "real" aspect of any range is essentially "populating it", not necessarily 100% accuracy according to a satellite picture - as opposed to an afcad which, I think, should be 99.9% accurate in layout of taxiways, runways, major buildings, etc.
By making a small library of aerial/gunnery range objects, something I am sure even a beginning modeller could produce fairly quickly, the ranges where ai aircraft are being sent in already existing packages could be more "scenic" should someone want to fly alongside or visit on their own.
To round out a "range library", there are already default objects and and things like the MCDMIL library which could be used for practically any aerial bombing/gunnery range.
Note: My part, based on recent knowlede gain and experience with landclassing/SbuilderX, would be in the landclassing/object placement area if someone wanted to work with me on this. I might even be able to be convinced to reinstall FS9 to try to make anything I did for FSX backwards compatible.

Sounds good. There are Nellis Ranges in MSFS from some MAIW packages (which ones I couldn't tell you, one day I just noticed them lol) but there's nothing at any of those ranges. Really sad when you have to do practice bomb runs against dirt lol

If I remember correctly, someone did put together a scenery out in the Western US somewhere, with simulated sam sites and such. What I am thinking of is more traditional gunnery targets... basic geometric shapes (rectangles, triangles, circles) with "bullseyes", crosses, etc. that have been seen at gunnery ranges for over a century.
To do a "complete" range setup for a big place like Nellis, I think you'd need both the traditional as well as the "simulated real world" type sceneries. Static objects like tanks, scuds, etc. - some of these are already available. But the traditional targets that the Vlieland scenery has? Well, I can't find other sceneries with them and, like I said, the Vlieland package won't work in my FSX setup.
To do a "complete" range setup for a big place like Nellis, I think you'd need both the traditional as well as the "simulated real world" type sceneries. Static objects like tanks, scuds, etc. - some of these are already available. But the traditional targets that the Vlieland scenery has? Ford I made a library of targets for MAIW packages a while back. They can be seen on the Yuma ranges as part of the Yuma Harriers package.
They are very basic and are not textured. Instead their materials are colored in FSDS. This works in FS9 but not in FSX. So they are not really usable in FSX to my knowledge.
I've been meaning to go back and texture them so that they could be used. One of these days I suppose.
My objects are actual vehicles, SCUDs and SAMs. Not necessarily the things you are looking for.
Michael Carr has updated his library for FSX I believe. That's probably your best bet for FSX type objects.
