The Jarheads do have in the neighborhood of 18-24 aircraft per squadron. Then each squadron is broken into three 6-8 plane detachments.
The Navy on the other hand is I wanna say 4 on the boat(but might be confusing that number with the Hawkeyes on the boat) and 4 to 6 on the beach.
The Expeditionary Squadrons not sure... These are the squadrons the Navy stood up to replace the USAF F-4 EF-111 Wild Weasel Mission.
VAQ-128, 133, 134, and 142 are the Expeditionary, and these guys do not go to the boat. They do the P-3 style 6 month deployment to a AB, somewhere around the world. I think these guys hang out in Europe while on deployment.
Their are 4 Jarhead squadrons, 13 normal squadrons, 4 Per Diem Squadrons and the Fleet Replacement Squadron.
But who knows... seen somewhere there is a fleet requirement for 108 aircraft to meet all services needs. Soooo if there are 18 per Jarhead Squadron, that leaves 2.5 per the Navy Squadrons.

Navy - 4 Aircraft in 12 Squadrons
Expeditionary Sqn - 7 Aircraft in 3 Squadrons - VQA-121 DISBANDED 04
FRS - 11 Aircraft
Total
120
Got the Operational Reqirement from www.fas.org

Didn't Count 121...Which had to have been 128... As per the Navy's Squadron Lineage List VAQ-128 is the only squadron other than the ones below that were in operation in 1998(last update)CrazyDunc wrote:ok.......

My Prowler database is pretty decent so I thought I'd offer up some info.
These are the current USN and USMC EA6-B Prowler squadrons as of October /November 2006 :
SQ------TC----Currently Deployed-------------# of a/c
VAQ 209 AF NAF Washington (Res) 6
VAQ 129 NJ NAS Whidbey Is (FRS) 26 (approx)
VAQ 130 AC CVN-75 (Truman) 4-5
VAQ 131 NE CVN-72 (Lincoln) 4-5
VAQ 132 AA CVN-73 (Washington) 4-5
VAQ 133 NL Joint Expeditionary 4-5
VAQ 134 NL Joint Expeditionary 4-5
VAQ 135 NH CVN-68 (Nimitz) 4-5
VAQ 136 NF CVN-63 (Kitty Hawk) 4-5 (Atsugi)
VAQ 137 AB CVN-65 (Enterprise) 4-5
VAQ 138 NG CVN-74 (Stennis) 4-5
VAQ 139 NK CVN-76 (Reagan) 4-5
VAQ 140 AG CVN-7 (Eisenhower) 4-5
VAQ 141 AJ CVN-71 (Roosevelt) 4-5
VAQ 142 NL Joint Expeditionary 4-5
VMAQ 1 CB MCAS Cherry Point 5
VMAQ 2 CY MCAS Cherry Point 5
VMAQ 3 MD Al Asad, Iraq 5
VMAQ 4 RM MCAS Cherry Point 5
VX 9 XE NAWS China Lake 1
VX-23 SD NAS Pax River 3
NADEP Jacksonville 1
Some notes:
*total active airframes by my data is 118. There were 170 made, with 46 lost to accidents, 3 were preproduction, and 3 are preserved.
*VAQ 128 was disestablished in 2004. They were the fourth expeditionary squadron someone referenced. There are now only 3. They typically deploy to Afghanistan. The USMC squadrons rotate overseas and currently are not deployed on carriers.
* The current modex for Naval EA6-B Squadrons is 500 (5xx). USMC #'s are in the format "CY 01"
* 4 aircraft per squadron deploy to the carrier. The squadron may or may not have extra a/c back their home base. A/C are taken from the FRS to fill out deployments if necessary and to account for any attrition. My research shows that a/c move between squadrons on a fairly regular basis.
*VAQ 137 and VAQ 139 operate the new ICAP III variant.
* I have callsigns for all the squadrons if you need them.

What do think about the total a/c distribution numbers I posted a while back?
My personal focus currently has been on NAS Whidbey Island, but any Prowler info would be much appreciated!

No, not doing the aforementioned project.
I used KNUW as my learning project to really explore the limits of AFCAD. It came out quit well I might add. I even got most of the parameters to match up with Ultimate Terrain. Trying to add FLCP zones as well (and at OLF Coupeville)I've currently been playing with EZ Scenery to add all the hangers and such. I did some basic flightplans too. But the problem is when I try to load the appropriate # of a/c. With no AI P-3 and EA-6B, the place is a frame rate killer. So I've put it on the back burner until some good AI models come out eventually.
