Ok, so maybe this is a dumb question but I can't find the answer anywhere lol:
How many aircraft are in a C-17 SQUADRON?? I know typically a Squadron has 12 aircraft, but for instance the 437th Air Wing at Charleston AFB has 4 flying squadrons (14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th Air Squadrons). If each squadron has 12 aircraft that's 48 airplanes. 48 C-17s seems like an unusually high number of C-17s for a base (given the C-17s size).
Seperate question, the 315th airlift wing which has 3 squadrons (300th, 317th, and 701st Airlift Squadrons) uses the 437th's aircraft, do they park seperately on the apron?? IE, at fighter bases wings and squadrons park together in seperate areas of the ramp, but these two units share a/c so is parking just a "free-for-all"??
