Quick FSDS question

Post by aerogator »

I have reloaded all of my FSDS program and files after my HD crash but I'm still having a few issues. I know there is a way to configure FSDS3.5 to pause during compiling so that you can set any options but I can't remember how to do it. Can someone please help? I think Kev and/or Nick showed me how way back when.

Thanks :D

Hey Jake,

move MakeMdlAircraftParms.txt file to any other name,
you can find it on the main FSDS install folder.

Got it Rysiek! Thanks! :D I knew it was something simple.

Now I just have to recreate all of my xml codes that I lost also :( and I'll be back in business. :)

Oh brother, that sounds like a ton of work. Did you ever check out any of the automated backup programs that are out there?

Oh yeah, am waiting on a recovery operation thats supposed to be able get almost all of my files back.

I had backed up all of my .fsc and.fsp files but forgot to backup my misc stuff. I am backing up everything manually now but would like to know what others use for auto. I have been referred to Norton Ghost but its kind of pricey ( of course its cheap compared to having all of your files restored even if its possible).

:!: One more question: I can't get my MakeMDL.part file to save any changes. Before, I opened it with notepad, edited it with xml codes and then closed and saved, but now its saying it can't save that file type or something. :? Am I missing something here? Do I need to change the file type or something?

Thanks :)

Jake,

Acronis TrueImage is a very capable and useful program. It is easy to operate and works image based. Maybe you want to have a look at the trial version which you can download from their web site.
Cheers,
Martin

Jake this is what I use, best part, it's freeware.

Look under the "Freeware" section for the free version.

Thanks for the back-up links guys.

I'm still having trouble with my Makemdl file. When I try to save any changes here is what I get when I click 'yes' when asked if I want to save the changes:

and then:

and then:

I can't remember if I changed something in the way the file is saved but I don't remember having this problem before.

Thanks :)

Jake,
When you save it you have to alter the "Save as type:" from 'Text Documents' to 'All Files', otherwise it will automatically add a '.txt' to the end, and the problem is that there are too many dots. I think.

Still no joy on this one. When I change to: "save as type: all files", I still get the message: "This file exists with Read Only attributes. Please use a different file name"

:x :x :x

This is driving me crazy. Until I solve it, I can't compile any model that has xml coding (which is every model I have) :? :)

If anyone out there has any ideas, I'd love to try them.

Thanks, :)

Hey guys, sorry for all the fuss. I think I fixed it by making it not "read only" Why didn't I think of that in the first place   :D

Thanks for the help anyway. :D
