FSX KSEA update on avsim

Post by Ford Friendly »

You may or may not have seen this on was made available today on avsim. If you fly in the Seattle-Tacoma or McChord area, this is probably of interest to you.

KSEA 2008
File Description:
This scenery adds the new 16R/34L runway and their ILS approaches, the associated taxiways, and flattens/excludes autogen from the new layout. Also includes updated AI/GPS approaches for all runways, and small updates to existing taxiways.

Filename: ksea.zip Added: 20th November 2008
Author: Owen Catherwood Size: 2779kb

From the readme:
Features include:
New runway 16R/34L with working ILS approaches
*Added all taxiways which lead to 16R/34L, along with the re-named twy T.
*Added the closed "stub" taxiway branching off from twy P, which will be used once they close 16L/34R for resurfacing next year
*Added the ramp "taxiway" W, which is parallel to twy B. This is the taxiway to which aircraft pushing back from the concourses facing twy B stop, or will turn off B and then taxi along W to the Concourse C Horizon gates.
*Added centerline lights for taxiways anticipated for Cat III operations to/from the new runway
*All approaches and their associated fixes updated to match the 0812 AIRAC data. AI aircraft will now intercept the 16 localizers at 3200 in the vicinity of ANVIL, instead of 1900 over BFI.
*Flattened/excluded autogen and underlying terrain to be level with the rest of the airport when using add-on terrain (KSEA being on a plateau in real life)
*Removed the portions of the SW GA ramp bulldozed to make way for the localizer and approach path to 34L.
I've already downloaded and installed it. My impressions are that it DOES seem to have pretty darn good traffic flow and fits in fairly nicely with UT-USA and FSGenesisX V2 mesh. KSEA is on a plateau in real life and the file "feathers" the terrain relating to the new runway pretty seamlessly to my eye.

The afcad is an ADE design. There's a minor landclass issue which can be very easily fixed - the grassy area doesn't extend out past the new runway. There's a radar object that is now in the middle of a taxiway, but that can be easily excluded with ADE.
