I was given to understand that baring the soles of feet, or if that's not possible, throwing shoes, is one of the biggest insults you can give in that part of the world.

Yes, in the Arab world throwing a shoe is considered the ultimate insult (weird, stupid custom if you ask me lol).

Whether you support a pres or not, regardless of who they are, physically attacking him is probably the stupidest thing anyone could do lol.
