Hey guys...

Just wondering from the UK members whos been having alot of snow?

Shed load fell here last night, and now i have a day off school

Still snowing in Leicestershire. Got sent home from work after battling my way in. Sensible decision really as driving an LPG tanker in these road conditions is not fun. Am now sampling the "joys" of daytime TV

No problem here at LHR, we had light rain overnight and this a.m. which has washed the remnants of the snow from earlier this week away.

We never get much snow here in Cleethorpes, I blame it on the Humber Gulfstream.. lol.
All we've had is rain, mind you I did clear out the freezer today and made a snowball to throw at the cat.... hehehe

We had loads in Brum from 5am to about 11am. I drove 20 miles to measham in it at 05:30 had a few close calls with the kerbs.

Got a mini blizzard here in Bournemouth. Roads, schools and airport closed! Thankfully I've taken a long weekend so I'm in the warm and currently flying somewhere warm! Well I can dream...

You guys are lucky over there. Today is the first time since January 8th, that we've been able to see the grass. We've had snow on the ground since last month. Bloody warm here today at 5*C.

Out of curiosity, I've always wondered how much/if it was common for the UK to get snow?? Clearly you don't get that much if you do because the amounts in this post are noting compared to the NE US lol, but I was just curious how much you usually get per year and what an "average" snowfall is

Good question. If you can wait until tomorrow (when I go back to work) I can find out. I only remember one snow fall during the 2 years I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters and it was only an inch.

I couldn't honestly tell you our average as it differs from region to region, even on our little rock. What I do know is that the amount that fell last Sunday night at LHR, so say the SE of England, was the most that has fallen for 18 years.

Now compared to the NE US we don't get anywhere near the same amount, but due to that fact we don't have the money set by for supplies and staff to deal with snow when it does happen, we get screwed.
For example there were a lot of places where by the time the alarm went up the snow plough and gritter staff couldn't get to work from their rural homes as the country lanes were already impassible.

I have seen it too often in business, its risk management. To be fully prepared on a permanent basis would cost more than the damage when it occurs every 2 decades.
Besides, who would have thunk it with all this talk of global warming

We had snow again in Brum tonight. It's also my lads 3rd Birthday today and it has snowed on all 3 of he's birthdays.

When i said earlier that we don't get much snow here in Cleethorpes.... last night we got a "dusting" which has set rock hard in the sub-zero temp.
This morning our local council was showing off that we still have salt for the roads as the gritter trundled past at 06:30..
I think he was just passing through to the posh area. lol
