AMC flights and Ramstein.

Post by garysted »

Hi all,

I've been working through all the old PAI C-17 packs to rewrite the C-17 flightplans, with a view to making them far more realistic. I've also combined this with a view to putting more traffic through Ramstein as nowadays there's such a volume of 'heavies' going through there. The added availability of the C-17/KC-10 repaints at Avsim has also helped. I noticed there's been quite a few queries on the forum for traffic in and out of Ramstein plus a modern AFCAD. I can offer the following out if anybody wants them.

437th AMW Charleston. Have so far written for 41 C-17s, which is a little short. Unlike the FPs that came with them, I always make sure the aircraft make at least one stopover at their home base during the week. I found the C-17 bases originally were virtually empty as the aircraft hardly visited their home bases.

62nd AW McChord. 25 C-17s. Same as above for the details.

3rd Wing Elmendorf. 8 C-17s. This was just a alteration of the C-17 FPs of the MAIW package (hope that's ok). This was to send them around the globe more alongside the other units. I photographed one of these landing at RAF Mildenhall a few weeks ago so they do get around.

3rd AS Dover. Only the C-17 unit so far (13 a/c), to tye in with the new repaints at AVSIM.

60th AMW Travis. 19 KC-10, 8 C-17 and 11 C-5 (so far). This one is more of a work in progress than the others - the C-5s have only been added today after adding a working AI C-5 with the correct repaints from Graham at AVSIM. The C-17s and KC-10s are also from recent repaints on AVSIM.

All these fly legs inside the US to both commercial and military fields, plus overseas to most major countries, with a heavy emphasis on the US - Japan/Korea run and the US - europe (Ramstein/Lajes/Incirlik/Rota) - Middle East run as well. The plans also allow for crew rest stops at various points as most FPs seem to forget that and turn planes around very quickly. I'll add more as time allows.

If anybody knows how to get the German made scenery for Ramstein working in FS9 without floating AI and also getting rid of the statics I would be very pleased to hear from them!

Which "German made" scenery do you refer to?

(I am German just in case there is a german readme only  )

Hi,

It's the one linked here. I did find a reference to this on the forum from a while back where somebody was asking the same two questions, without any luck though.

http://www.german-virtual-airforce.de/E ... nloads.htm

I ran the German instructions through a translation programme but it never really made any sense to me. I am curious as to why there's some duplicate files, although I swapped some of these around without any luck to either issue.

Hi,

Flying Illini, did you have any luck getting rid of the static aircraft or getting the AI to sit on the ground. If either of those were sorted it would be ok but it's beyond my rather limited knowledge I'm afraid. I found a forum about FS under AFG but couldn't see anything about Ramstein, unless I missed it.

Gary,
If you haven't registered for an account with them you will need to do that to see it.

I couldn't see the pictures they posted as my work blocks access to the site they were using.

Had a look at the german readme file. It does not give any information on floating aircraft or on how to get rid of the statics. I could not find any information in their forum either :?

The floating aircraft are not part of the package but are part of other AI packages you have downloaded that go to Ramstein.

I may be off-topic but do you have a list that indicate how much and where are based the USAF's C-130 (in all versions)?

thanks!
