A Current Project

Post by GrahamS »

Hi Guys

I notice there is a need for scenery libraries so I thought some of you may be interested in one of my own projects. The hangars are in a library used by any object placer, including Rwy12, EZScenery, SceneGenX. Currently in the picture you see a General Service Shed (Belfast Truss) single and double span, and 'C' type hangars type 103 and 203. Under construction currently is a J/K type and HAS.

The aircraft in front is a Sentinel R1 and will be a true AI version. Currently the main model has 5586 polys (I do not anticipate much further change to that, and LOD 1 has 3826. Further LODS up to LOD 7 are in hand.

Nice work Graham. We could do with some specific British buildings. The Sentinel looks like a good project, I look forward to it.

Bravo!

Many thanks, CW. Both projects are going quite well. The only fly in the ointment so far is accurate drawings of the Sentinel. I have several sets but they are all different in some quite important areas, oh well it was ever thus....LOL

Wow - great work Graham, and muchly badly needed hangars for British scenery projects. And the Sentinel will finish Waddington off quite nicely.... 8)

Well, many thanks for the interest CW and delbydoo, you will be remembered when I'm ready for some testing. I have now completed the J/K Hangar as you can see. I must now reconfigure the texture set for the library, there is a bit of wasted space so its better done now before the number of models in the library becomes too large. The HAS has to be textured and then I can get on with the remaining hangar types, control towers, admin and domestics.

Wow, that's a very detailed hangar!

Hi Danny

FSDS reports 1274 polys (that's not allowing for the known FSDS faulty counting), but a single LOD will reduce that by around 75%, its only the fine detail close up that bumps the numbers up. All the models are around the same level of detail in close up.

I don't do polys and such.

It's pretty!

Outstanding work on that hangar; once your superb scenery objects become available then perhaps some RAF Stations might get to look more like the 'real thing'. Thanks (in advance) for your efforts.

If you want to save yourself some work, I believe JBAI have already done a Sentinal as part of the Glex development.

Thanks for that, John. I don't particularly need to save some work, it's a good learning exercise whatever happens. I am aware of a BD-700 Global Express from JBAI, though I am not sure it has been completed, but cannot find any reference to a Sentinel.

Hi guys, yes the Glex is still in development at JBAI. It's been on hold for a few months while I resolve some personal issues. Please Graham continue with your project mate, in fact I'm very surprised someone else has taken an interest in this aircraft.:)

Hi Andy

Yes, I will be completing it, It is teaching me a great deal, but I am hoping the FSDSv3 update is going to make LODS a little easier to compile....LOL

Looks great so far Graham, if you need any help just ask, there are a few people at JBAI who would love to help you mate.
