Hm, from past experiences I can hardly beleive this. It was/is common here to use a platform and use it for multi-purposes. I was sure the remaining PA200's would be replaced by a modified version of the Eurofighter.
Reasons usually named by the government:
1. Keep the knowledge, technology and workforce inside the EC.
2. Re-use known platforms to save money on spare parts.
3. Be independent from currency exchange rates (although it is not possible by the variaty of parts made outside EC).
But thats just my opinion.
