Defrag and Clean-up Tool

I'm looking for a good, reliable, and safe defrag and clean-up tool. I noticed one called "Auslogics Disk Defrag and Registry Cleaner" mentioned in another thread.

Anyone have any preferences, comments, or suggestions?

I have been a big fan of the Auslogics programs. I only use the free versions as it has been my experience that you don't get that much more by buying the "full" programs.

Most payware programs of this type are just different GUI's that use the same algorithm's and coding that comes with your version of windows already.

The current registry cleaner by Auslogics is really nice because it looks at a lot of different parts of the registry and I have had no problems with it at all...

Note...I have a dual-boot system with Vista (64-bit) and XP. No problems with their products in either OS.

A good, reliable, free clean-up tool is CCleaner.
Its updated regularly, and tells you about updates, and doesn't cause any installation issues.
It frees up space and cleans up the registry. I would say give it a go.

For helping in keeping the registry clean after de-installing I would recommend Revo Uninstaller. It uses the applications own installer but also searches deeper in the registry and offers you additional registry settings to delete.

My defrag program runs in the background all the time but its payware so I won't mention it.

I also use CCleaner and would recommend it, i've had no problems at all.

I also use the Piriform defraggler which seems to do the job very well,especially compared with the MS windows version
