IL76/A-50 crash in Iran

Post by sprocky »

An aircraft belonging to the Iranian Air Force crashed yesterday in Qarchak. At least seven reported dead. As per skyliner-aviation.de the aircraft was IRIAF Il-76MD "Simorgh" (Baghdad-2/Adnan-2, No. 1 with 5-8208 serial) crashing after a mid-air collision with a F5. No information on the F5 crew yet.

Pic of the a/c and short vid of the crash site can be found here (scroll down a bit):

On a sidenote: have a look at the 10:54min video at the top of that page. got to 10:15. Are those Tomcats?

Seems that being in the air over Iran is pretty dangerous this year.

Edit:
The F-5 crashed, too.
From reports it seems it was the only AWACS A-50 IRIAF had.
