Could any repainters shed some light on how they go about choosing the right tone of colour in national insignia and roundels? I presume that nations will generally use a standard tone (or maybe a couple) that will be replicated across the entire fleet. Is there a good resource for such info?
Specifically, I am interested in getting the right tone of Saffron/Orange/Burnt_Red used on Indian Air Force aircraft (who in fact do use more than one shade), but perhaps this is a concern that can be generalised across many other nation's insignia.
Photographs introduce colour bias, often with greens appearing too dark and oranges too red. Hence my query.
Cheers,
Dan

I suggest taking a look at this site. Loads of info and downloads of insignia(s).
