AF Combat Systems Officer Training at Pensacola.

Post by GZR_Sactargets »

From AF Daily Report 13 OCT 09

New Training Unit: The Air Force reactivated the 479th Flying Training Group Oct. 2, this time at NAS Pensacola, Fla., where it will lead the service's newly structured combat systems officer training starting next May. Per BRAC 2005, the Air Force is consolidating its navigator, electronic warfare officer, and weapons system officer training into the single CSO schoolhouse at Pensacola. Currently much of this training goes on at Randolph AFB, Tex. Construction of the 479th FTG's operations and academic facilities at Pensacola will be complete by year's end. When fully operational, the schoolhouse will graduate about 360 officers per year. The group had been inactive since July 2007 when its undergraduate pilot and introduction to fighter fundamentals training ended at Moody AFB, Ga., also as a result of BRAC 2005. That explains all the new construction on my last visit to Pcola in August. Wonder if that means more T-1's on the ramp.

Yup, all USAF CSO/Nav/EWO training is being moved to P-Cola and will be joint but seperate with the Navy. I found that out this past May at the Langley Airshow, they sent a T-43 and I had a nice chat with an instructor about it. My dad's excitied because if I get a CSO slot I'd most likely be going to the Navy's VT-10....which is his old "alma mater" lol

Definetly means T-43s 8)
