Ai Models in FSRecorder

Post by rassy7 »

I use FSRecorder to create and replay my own traffic. Basically they are just recordings for fun, but when I get too many flying together, the frame rate obviously suffers. So I switch the aircraft out for an MAIW model which lowers the frame rate but creates its own issues.

FSRecorder records control surfaces, flaps, gear, lights, main exit, smoke, spoiler etc.

My problem is when I fly the flightplan with ... say, the Kirk Olsen F-16 using flaps and lights like usual, then switch it with an ai model, it acts strangely.

I'm having trouble decyphering the models. So far, I can tell in the ai F-16, lights on will open and immediately close the canopy, turn on the lights and make surrounding generators and ladders and so on disappear. When I do the same thing with the F-15, the canopy stays open and I can't seem to figure out how to close it. Also, the afterburner in the F-15 turns on with the thrust a 0% but not 100% ... odd. I did figure out the spoiler automatically deploys when the flaps are down below a certain altitude. Got that from watching them in regular flight plans.

If you can offer any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Could save me a lot of headaches.

Thanks,

~Josh

They are designed to be AI aircraft and not user aircraft...all of those things are pretty normal and there's nothing you can do about it because it's built into the model.

My advice, don't use AI aircraft for multiplayer or in Recorder. Those things you mentioned are hard wired into each AI model with XML codes and cannot be undone unless you create a specific model just for multiplayer/Recorder.

You'll find similar problems with some freeware and payware aircraft when using them in Recorder. It's for the same reason, hard coded XML animations and visibilities.

Ya, I figured there wasn't really any way around that.

They are just the best models and paints out there and with the high frame rates are perfect for such a task. I guess I'll just have to search for other low poly flyable models.

Thanks anyway,

When I complete my first AI aircraft model (one of these days), I will also release a mulitplayer/Recorder version that DOES NOT have all the cool XML stuff coded into it.

Going forward, if we ask politely, we might get the big boys to do the same. It would simply require a few small adjustments to the model and to remove the XML coding. That's easily done if it's done during that time when the model is being first developed.
