Glad to see he's safe, hope he recovers ok.

These things happen though with aircraft that close together.

I reckon its pretty rare for the Red Arrows.

Anyone know of any previous incidents of this nature (aircraft loss or collision) in their history?

Wikipedia lists seven Hawk incidents (including today's) and two Gnat incidents.

Not exactly a reliable source, but a good indication nevertheless.

I was brought up not far from Kemble, and I remember being vaguely aware of the Red Arrows - but they had already moved to Scampton before I was old enough to appreciate them.

Just seen a picture on the BBC
Damage to top of fin and right tailplane

reports are its was the syncro pair

So, one plane was destroyed with the pilot surviving though injured, and the other managed to land safely. I'm so glad it wasn't any worse.
