HTAI F-16 open canopy when parked - is that right?

Post by kungfuman »

Hi,

Most AI aircraft models seem to have closed canopies/doors etc., unless they are about to depart or have recently arrived (or something along those lines). But my F-16s seem to be permanently open. Is that normal?

Is there an easy way of maybe adjusting an entry in the cfg file or something, so that the F-16s close their canopy when parked?

Cheers,

Dan

The HTAI model does have the cannopy opened when it is parked. I figured that was the way he modeled them. It was an early model, so there are some new techniques in use that weren't around then.

Unfortunately you cannot ammend the canopy open position of Henry's F-16s. That was how he made them, and the animation is coded in xml which is written into the .mdl file of the model itself, which cannot be ammended apart from re-compiling the model, and as we don't have the model source files we are stuck with the way it is. Not taking anything away from Henry's F-16 as it is still the benchmark that all Military AI modellers aspire to, and was part of the inspiration behind this entire group in the first place.
We have developed beyond that coding since Henry developed the F-16 which is why you now see some very cunning xml coded animation on our models.

My fault it is always open on the ground. I suggested it to Henry, as it was the first AI model to do this and I thought he should show the feature. He was going to have it flip open and close as most models do this day.

Why can’t they keep the colours in the bloody paint pots and just leave them grey

Not a bad "fault"... It's more realistic with canopy open. But two versions (open and close) ae welcom.

If you have good influence on Henri, can you suggest him to do a Block 52+ (or Block 60) version, with CFT and with long SPIN tail ?

Henry long ago disappeared from the AI scene and took his source files with him.
