Aircraft Disappear After landing

Post by wbunnell »

Checking my Drive through Parking, the aircraft leave the parking spot, taxi to end of runway, take off.

When they return to the airfield, they land, roll out, and then disappear.

Other aircraft land and go to selected parking spots. The Aircraft in question are AI, KC-135, from MAIW.

C-17s Land turns at the first taxiway, then proceed to their parking spots.

The KC-135 roll out past the first taxiway, then disappear.

Removed all drive thru, redone the runway and taxiways, they still disappear.

The main questions are what Airfield are you looking at, and are these part of an MAIW package. If so is it the homebase for the MAIW package you are having the problem at? Have you checked to see that there are enough spaces for the KC135s to park at at the base, and that they are coded so that the KC-135s will park there, and that they are the correct radius. Also that the parking spots are actually connected to the runway at the end they are landing.

The Airport in question is KDOV, aka, Dover Air Force Base. It is not part of the MAIW network.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Aircraft Taking off from an airport that has enough spots to accommodate them before they take off, should have enough spots to accomodate them when they land.

I have the Afcad Tools Aircraft Editor set at 24 meters for the KC-135, the aircraft parking spots are 28 meters, adn 32 meters there are 31 Parking spots at 28 meters, one at 32 meters.

I have pretty much reconfigured the airport, with no luck.

Correct in the real world, but not correct in the world of FS.

If you have more traffic programmed to use this airfield than can be handled by the parking spots, then when an aircraft leaves a parking spot to take-off, another aircraft will spawn in the spot it used to occupy after a short while. By the time your first aircraft lands, it may not have anywhere to go.

However, there may be other reasons as to why your AI are disappearing.

In the Flight Plan there are 31 Aircraft, Taking off, and landing, there are no other aircraft scheduled to land in the flightplans.

You're sure you are not seeing KC-135s from other MAIW packages based at other airfields, but just visiting?

Some of these packages had their KC-135s set at 44m, which would result in their disappearance on landing, in exactly the manner you describe.

Sounds like there is no route to the parking ie a gap in the taxiway

Just for S+Giggles, I deleted the Runway from Taxiway D to Taxiway C, then reinstalled it, son of a gun it seems to have solved the problem. Hope this is the problem, had reinstalled the aircraft once, it worked for a while then started all over again.

Thanks everybody for your expertize, and idears..

A gap in the runway links won't necessarily show as a "fault" if I remember correctly.

It may also have happened if the runway links you deleted weren't originally named correctly. If you're using AFCAD, that can happen if you change the order of runways in the runway list, perhaps if you were experimenting with using the xwind approach to activate all the runways.

Anyway, glad you got it sorted :D
