Got a new PC!

Post by james84 »

Hello all,
as you can read, I needed to buy a new computer as the old one died after 7 years of honorable service... :|
I got a Dell Inspiron PC with Windows 7 and Intel CPU, a 1TB hard disk plus a new graphic card (ATI? Don't remember, it has 1gb of dedicated memory though) a beast comparing to the old "assembled" PC which had overheating problems since the day I bought it in feb. 2003.
I will try to reinstall FS2004 soon!
Unfortunately, I have the WHOLE backup on the other PC, whose hard disks should work well. Is there a solution to copy the data from the old HDs to the new PC (without opening it, of course, otherwise the warranty will void )?

FS2004 is on and runs like a bomb! And with maximum settings!

It's pretty amazing isn't it?

Sure!
Just a pity that I have to rebuild all the traffic... of course if I don't find a way to transfer the data from the old HD!

James get you a External HD kit with USB, install your old HD in it, and then you can just copy it over to your new computer. That way you can use the external as a back-up drive to save your hard work.

Thanks!
Do you think Win 7 will be able to recognize the partitions on the old HD?

If it can see the HD and they are formatted with a file system that Win7 recognizes, then yes.
