Wings Over Houston

Post by BadPvtDan »

The Mrs and I are headed out there for the show on Saturday, October 23rd I think. Is anyone headed out to see the Thunderbirds?

Last time I went there, I was set up with my knee's against the fence with the ability to stand up and get great shots as various a/c taxied by on the way back to park after aerials. However, the crowd just shoved their way in front of me (bowed the fence several feet) and I wasn't even able to stand up to see anything, except what was pretty much overhead. I vowed that if I ever return to WOH, I'm going to pay the extra and get into the reserved seating area, where all was civil and really not even crowded. Also they had separate port-o-pots and snack vendors from the general admission crowd. Big cities equal big unruly crowds.

Anyway, I've gotten too old to even walk the distance from the parking area to the viewing area. WOH is a truly huge show. Worth the very long drive to get there if you can handle the crowds. However, even in October it was damn hot. Regretfully, I'm not going.

That sucks Ron. I've never seen it like that. We are staying in the reserved area though. It's expensive but worth it!

Great info, missed WOH last year and need to try to convince my CO if we can bring a H-60 down for static. Trying to make this one and FTW shows this year.

That would be a great show...I'll be there next year as my wife and I are moving to The Woodlands next June.

*Cross fingers*...I'll be going to the Nellis show this November.
