Vermont ANG and Montana ANGs?

Hello all,
Do you know whether VT and MT F-16s are still operational?
I am missing them in my sim and was thinking about making flightplans...

Montana ANG do not fly F-16 they fly F-15 untill 2011, when the F-15 will go to Fresno to replace there F-16. No replacement aircraft has been assigned yet but the C-27 is in the running.

The official webpage for the VT ANG 158th FW http://www.158fw.ang.af.mil/ shows they flew 12ea F16's on exercise to Davis-Monahan in Jan 2010, had an ORI in March, and shows pictures of F16 flight simulator training in June 2010. So looks like they are still flying the F16.

Thanks Rick, so I'll do flightplans for them too, at least until "somebody" feels like releasing them!

I have 2 158th FW Vipers flying from the New England Mil AI package (way before MAIW).

Combat Aircraft Monthly did a story on them in Apr 10. Showing 18 Blk 30's plus one "tub".

Yes, I seem to recall something about congressional/local help and protest got them out of BRAC? Looks like the "Green Mountain Boys" are still flying 'real jets' for now.
I thought I also saw something about they had had the oldest Block ? flying and it would be donated to the Simthsonian?

There have been some rumors that the VT ANG is in the running for the F35 as well. There have been a few articles in the local papers here about that.

The 134th FS, 158th FW of the VT ANG upgraded from Block 25 to Block 30 F-16C's in 2008 and are still flying them. They were detached to Langly AFB this past summer while Runway 15/33 at KBTV was repaired and upgraded, but are now back at KBTV flying training sorties almost daily.

Shortly prior to switching to the Block 30 F-16C's, F-16C #83-1165 affectionately known as "Lethal Lady" reached a milestone in becoming the first F-16 airframe to log 7,000 hours of flight time.

It was announced on July 29, 2010 that the Secretary of the Air Force had selected the Vermont National Guard to be the first Air Guard unit to base the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The Air Force announced that Burlington is one of two preferred choices for F-35 operations, along with Hill Air Force Base in northern Utah, and that Luke Air Force Base in Arizona is the top pick for training. Final basing decisions will be made later in the ongoing selection process. Under the current production schedule, the planes could begin arriving in Vermont in the 2018 federal fiscal year.

Burlington and the other locations selected to base the F-35 are now moving forward with a final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This review is examining the environmental impact of the basing plan including the noise profile of the engine and site surveys, and will include additional public meetings. The results of the EIS reviews could impact the final Air Force basing decision in the future.

Unfortunately there is a local and quite vocal group opposed to the F-35 being based at KBTV and are organizing to try to prevent it from happening.

    Mike
The local vocal group are probably the same critters that nixed any plans to eradicate lampey in lake Champlain tributaries and any culling the Massive Cormarant population . They've probably ate too much Ben and Gerries ice cream and it's frozen their brains
I'm currently "working" on BTV and the 134th FS .I've got 4 A/C repainted of a planned 33 (gotta have some of the original planes with the olde Falcon tail paints ). This is my 1st attempt at any AI stuff that was hindered by not being able to get the HTAI F-16 paintkit .As far as the flight plans I'm currently reading up on how to go about it. James84 if you've got some done it would be appreciated :P .Regarding airspeed , Mike or ANYONE is there any way to bump up AI airspeed to more than 250 K below FL12.5 ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Back in the 80's I'd occasionally get a call from the 158th office announcing upcoming "activity " and a few of us would head down to BTV and be royally received .The ANG ramp was wide open to us and we often got rides down to that concrete area near the threshold of rny. 33 . This very generous hospitality continued until one idiot wondered off the concrete onto the grass to get that "perfect "shot .
Two of their F-16's did an absolutely stunning mini "airshow" at Bagotville on their arrival IN POURING RAIN,VISIBILITY= 1 1/2m. AND CEILING WAS ABOUT 1000FT !! Just about the whole base including us visiters were on the ramp watching with our collective jaws on the ground !

    No problem at all, Brian!
I already made some, you can get on page 14 (or 15?) of the My Flightplans thread, but I'm not pretty sure about the registrations. If you have them, I can easily edit the flightplans!

    Try these flight plans

You might notice that I have made a few MOA waypoints like Yankee 1, Condor 1 & 2 and a couple in NY state MOAs.

Thanks for these (and the futue paints). I'd made my own FP with RPP...it got the aircraft on to BTV, but I've got a long way to go.

Hi, sorry to get a little off topic but I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of some VT ANG paints/textures? I looked around here using the search and have seen people talk about them but can't seem to locate any (it's very possible that I'm blind and missing them). Any help is appreciated. Thanks very much!!!!

PS. this site is great and though this is my first post I have read a lot and it seems that there are a lot of great people.
