Easy way to get images into Sbuilder.

Get or compile a photo from Google or Bing using a Graphics program to compile the collage.
Make sure north is on the top.
Make it Rectangular.

In ADE get your airport. Make sure of your Runway co-ordinates. (primary runway).

Import the image into your project. Use a guideline to measure your runway.
Measure the same runway's dimensions on the image.

Scale it as follows. Divide the runway length by the length of the guideline on the image.

Now use the position image function. The scale is the number you got from the previous calculation use up to six decimal points.

Move the image to fit properly over your runway in ADE.

You can lay out your airport accurately now.

To get the image into Sbuilder you will need the top left and bottom right corners of your image.

Place position markers at these corners.

Use edit object to get the co-ordinates. Copy and paste them onto a text document.

In Sbuilder use these co-ordinates to calibrate your image. It should fit fairly closely to your ADE layout if you compile it as a Photo tile.

You can also use the default textures in polygons to get the correct shape and placement of your required surface.

A brief overview, but it should give you an idea of how to do this quickly.

I found the Tutorial by Mike JG most enlightening.

MAIW Learning centre/Sbuilder Basics.

The manual that comes with Sbuilder also has some usefull information but you need to read and re-read it to get the answers.
Put yourself in the position of some-one who speaks a different language with different language construction. It might become clearer.

I could help if you have specific questions.

I am no expert but I have managed 1024x1024 resolution photo tiles and the masking around it.

Mike JG's tutorial answered my questions and put the Sbuilder notes in perspective.

Also try to read the Sbuilder x notes. Not exactly the same but made some answers clearer.

Starting a project.

Make a folder named Maps in the folder with the other files and folders of the Sbuilder program.

Place your photo or map into this folder.
Map format: 24bit bitmap.

Start SBuilder.

It will ask you to name your project. Use the ICAO Code or what ever you decide.

Click OK.

The workspace is now blank.

Right Click.

In the Pop-up, select Class Scenery.

Enter the Airport reference point as the centre of your project. (Airport properties in ADE for your airport).
Copy and paste works.

Next

Click on the Map icon.

Now click on the workspace.

Navigate to your picture/photo and click it.

Message: You may need to calibrate this bitmap.

Click OK.

In the next table fill in the co-ordinates.(From my first post).

North Lat - top lat
West Lon - top long

South Lat - bottom lat
East Lon - bottom long

Nothing else must be changed.

Click OK

The map might be hidden.

Click the point Icon.

Rotate the mouse wheel to zoom out.

Richt Click on your photo. Select centre.
Now you can zoom in.

Save your project.

That should get you started.

John, thank's for taking the time with your mini tutorial .It has taken the "WTF" out of what needs to be done .
Joe ,thank's to you too for the link to Ed's video tut's . They are very well done !
Also Instant Scenery III needed a dedicated to the ab initio but serious user . The Simforum site was VERY helpful in pointing out that an object placement file IS needed .ANOTHER 'WTF " sequence of events .I'm more than a bit PO'd that that isn't really explained in their manual .
