Bad news from Morocco

On 21 January 2019, the pilot of a Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) Dassault Mirage F1EH n°159, managed to eject himself to safety during a crash in which the aircraft was fully destroyed.

The F1 reportedly suffered technical malfunctions during its landing attempt after a routine training mission. The aircraft came down in the northern Morocco Taounate region around 12:30 hrs local time.

The RMAF reported that the aircraft came down in the Taounate regio. The home base of the RMAF Mirage F1 fleet is 5 Air Base - Sidi Slimane, which is situated west of the borders of the Taounate regio. If the location of the crash is correct, the Mirage F1 maybe suffered already problems in flight and was executing an emergency landing at another airfield.
