Exclude stock P3Dv5 airport

Post by crushnik »

What is the best solution for using MAIW Patuxent River NAS in P3Dv5? I think it is fighting with the stock P3D Pax River scenery because I have flashing runway textures. Is there a way of combining the two somehow? I'd like to eliminate some of the library objects like the tree lines, which is easy to do in Airport Design Editor via the list, but I don't know what the best path forward is and I figured people here were way ahead of me.

Thanks,
Chris

P3dv5 doesn't acknowledge excludes in the same way that V4 and below did it has been complained about many times in the P3d forums LM just doesn't care and the only forum responses we get are from his royal annoying-ness, P3d superfan, who always tells us it's our problem, but has no clue himself... Martyson... So what you have to do and it is a PITA is open the addon airport in ADE running in P3d V5 mode, then load the default airport in on top of the addon airport and one by one delete the default buildings in the V5 ADE then re-compile...

Jetpilot1980, allow me a quote: "his royal annoying-ness, P3d superfan, who always tells us it's our problem, but has no clue himself... Martyson".

Seldom has a hammer hit the nail more squarely on its head.

Chris, weird I'm not seeing any flashing in v5.3 at Pax River. Revisiting this with all my airports to include many older MAIW releases using methods to load/remove stock data over large exclusion zones. Currently working McEntire AFB in South Carolina and other of clickclickdoh's FS9 helo stuff that uses MAIW base scenery.

I've found that compiling P3Dv5 airfields with the v5.2 SDK works a bit more reliably than the v5.4 SDK, which may be relevant. There was discussion about this way back when 5.4 came out, but I can't remember in which topic!

Well it's not just a "compiling issue" it's more a "compatibility issue"... Since having a "drag and drop" of the .bgls result in a fully functional scenery doesn't seem to happen anymore... Now you have to use ADE or scenery software of your choice to alter the scenery before use... and keep in mind ADE doesn't open exclude .bgl files for re-use, you either have to have the original .ad(x) files or re-make the exclude yourself and hope you "hit the nail on the head"... Not to mention there are many people out there who do not have any ADE or MCX ect skills at all... Their skill set is copying and pasting the files we make for them...
