TimC340 wrote: 13 Nov 2025, 18:17 OK, I have a working traffic file and airfield for 1HNG. The traffic file is completely new, and is very basic, so feel free to modify it as you wish. The AFCAD is designed to fit on the stock PHNG from P3Dv5.4/v6, and specifically with the Orbx Cityscape Honolulu for v5. The screenshots (visible via VPN or on a browser like Opera) give some idea of how it looks on my system.

The aircraft files needed the models from the MAIW_ACG_H-60_NavySeahawks package, which I had from Matrix but is probably in the Download hangar (the same mod I had to do to the North Island package). I'm using the BMP paints at the moment.

Tim,
I took a look at the raw txt files. What I found was that there was a hidden character at the end of every line in both the aircraft and airports files. The flightplans file was fine.

What I have done is deleted all the extra characters and re-saved the txt files. See how these ones go, as I can't test myself.

This is the only Helo I see. So, I guess it's working. But none of the other spots so up.

Thanks Steve - comparing the two, I can now see the extra character (shows as a space) in Notepad, so I know how to modify the files if I get this in the future! And the traffic file now works correctly, so that was definitely the issue.

OK Robert. The screenshot shows my system (P3D v5.4) at 13:53 (local) on a Tuesday afternoon. I'm using the aircraft as modified per the posts above, and the traffic file as cleaned up by Steve. There are 7 MH-60Rs from the 37th on the line, and the SuperTrafficBoard and LittleNavMap images show that they are responding correctly to Jim Rodger's traffic file. So I'm content that we have successfully tackled all the issues with the material. What remains is the settings on your sim.

This traffic file requires a minimum traffic volume setting of 50%. Airline, in this case, but make sure all your sliders are above 50% so that you know you can see most of the traffic - some files require 80% or even higher settings, and these files have a variety of traffic volume setting requirements so that the total amount of traffic generated doesn't overwhelm your system. On this particular 6-year-old computer, with a 12-core 3900X CPU, a 12Gb Radeon 6750XT GPU and 32Gb RAM, I can run thousands of traffic files at 100%, so most modern computers shouldn't be phased these days.

Beyond that, I'm not sure there's much more we can do. I haven't checked any of this on P3Dv6 - I do have that sim (in pretty much vanilla form) on another (bigger) computer in my garden studio, but it's persisting down and forecast to get a lot worse, so I'm not going out there today!

Victory103 wrote: 13 Nov 2025, 21:27 Thanks for researching these, last time I checked out K-Bay, my MH-60s were sitting low on the ramp with some paint issues. Paints seemed to run fine inflight, meant to try fixing and got distracted.

Hi Chris. Sorry, I've only just noticed this post!

One of the things I noticed while playing with the original 1HNG file was that the airfield elevation was over a metre below the stock airfield - that might explain why your MH-60s were sitting low. My 1HNG file has the same elevation as the stock airfield. I also have a revised AFCAD for the stock P3Dv5 airfield (as modified by Orbx and then further modified by me so that it works with my 1HNG) which I've attached. See how you get on with it. If you don't have the Orbx Cityscape Honolulu package, you may be missing some of the buildings - though they're all from the Orbx libraries, so if you have any Orbx products you may be OK. There's a bonus of PHHI Wheeler AAF that I created as well!

For anyone else who downloads these, they are P3Dv5.2 (and later) specific; they may well not work if directly injected into older sims, but it should be easy enough to modify them in ADE.

Edit: note that because I do have the relevant Orbx products, there's no CVX file included with these airfields as I didn't need to make one. There shouldn't be one with 1HNG anyway, as it overlays PHNG. You may find that there are oddities with the ground levels if you inject these AFCADs into vanilla P3Dv5, but please let us know if that is the case.

Thanks Tim, will install now and check. Good on Orbx, I have a few installed but nothing for HI. Years ago I worked over PHNG for the USMC MV-22 squadrons that moved in, but really have not touched it. Had a "work" trip to HNL which got me motivated to add the HSM-37 birds in (base textures) and look at HI ArNG/Wheeler Army (CH-47,UH-60,AH-64).

As far as I'm aware, I have no traffic for PHHI. My version of the airfield includes the partially-constructed new ramp (but no parking on it) and the UAV runway (but I don't think we have any applicable UAVs). The new ramp should be finished in the next couple of years, and then they plan to abandon all of the parking on the North side, I believe,

I have the one sitting on the ground and I saw 2 flying around the base. I waited for an hour to see if they would land but, not. At least it works right?

I did get dragged down the rabbit hole a bit! It helped my procrastination from doing DIY construction work in the rain and cold, so there was a bonus for me...

I have no idea why you aren't getting the traffic you should get. The two 'flying around the base' may have been doing approaches and go-rounds, as that's what IFR traffic scheduled with the T&G option does. All of the traffic in this file is IFR.

You can, of course, modify this file for your own use, or the Test one I provided you with a couple of days ago - which has traffic only at 1HNG. Don Grovestine's (RIP) AI Flight Planner gives you all the flexibility you need to make the aircraft do whatever you want. However, I'm done now. I've spent a lot of time on this and I really need to go back to the real-life stuff that I've been avoiding by playing with MAIW traffic! I will, at some point soon, just check that it all works in P3Dv6, but I've no reason to believe it won't - everything else I've tried that is genuinely P3Dv5.2+ compatible works flawlessly in v6.

Tim, as mentioned on your post and as seen in the screenshots, slight elevation issues on P3Dv5.3 with stock PHNG. Main runway and boat/seaplane ramps are the most noticeable, also have to exclude stock autogen hangars. Thanks again.

Hi Chris. This is my PHNG - modified from the v5.4 stock airfield - including the CVX. This, like PHHI, uses the Orbx scenery objects which should be fine as you'll have the library already, though of course you can substitute MAIW buildings if you'd like. All of the exclusions have been done, so you shouldn't need to do that again.
