Re: Pave Hawks and White Rockets
Hello Alex,
und frohliches Weihnachten aus Flensburg.
In my ADE (4.79 Dev. with Prokey) I do not have a "RAW data" menu, under "Tools" I have a "Raw data view" item. And when I go in there, I cannot change anything (I can edit some fields, but seemingly with no effect), and there is no field for the ICAO code alone.
I have the feeling (which may completely wrong) that the place where the change has to take place is in File/Airport properties, but the ICAO field there, along with most of the other fields, is greyed out. The trick then is to make those fields editable, and I cannot seem to accomplish that trick. But then again, this may just be me spinning my wheels...

Re: Pave Hawks and White Rockets
Well, now I don't know what to say...
I had another thought, that AIFP might, during compilation, replace KREE with 8XS8, as I have seen AIFP replace FS9 and FSX ICAO codes many times during compilation. So I got the T-38 flight plan file for Reese AFB and opened it with AIFP, and Reese AFB was actually there in the airports file, listed as "8XS8 Lubbock/Reese Airpark"! So all this has been due to my own..... er, lack of ability to check before typing...
Or, as a former co-worker at Quarterdeck Tech Support used to say: "Are we having fun yet?"

And, after all this brou-ha-ha, it's time for a picture!
Here's 8XS8 recompiled for P3D v. 5.

Re: Pave Hawks and White Rockets
The only way I've found to change an ICAO code is to save the ADE file in XML format. Then I edit the XML with a text editor (Windows Notepad, for example). Finally, I open the new XML file in ADE and recompile it.Jorgen wrote: 25 Dec 2025, 08:01 Hello Alex,

Very interesting - I'll have to check that one out, although I wouldn't use Notepad for editing xml files, but Notepad++ instead.

Thanks for the Pavehawk paints, I'll take any and all for the JY model. If you get bored, a few Pavehawks got 2 and 3 tone desert schemes for Op Desert Storm in 1991.

Re: Pave Hawks and White Rockets
I looked at changing the ICAO for Reese in ADE9, however I was unable to see an option to change that. I may have been able to change it in ADE if I had made the file as FS9 vs FSX, as the it gave the option to compile separately the objects and taxi signs etc. Had I created and saving as ADE9, I probably could change in using Lee Swordy's AFCAD. I considered trying editing in XML. If you found a way to change that for your individual sims, I'm good with it, I'm going to leave mine as is since all my flightplans are setup for using 8SX8 for Reese.

Re: Pave Hawks and White Rockets
Hello,
I'm just passing info in case others who read the posts are not familiar with editing the XML generated by ADE for the airfield project.
It is possible to edit the ICAO in the XML that is generated when you compile the airfield in ADE.
For instance if I wanted to change Reese Airpark to the original KREE
I would first compile the airfield as it is presently named.
If you have not already given settings in ADE to "Save XML with project" then you should ensure that setting is selected. Otherwise I'm not sure if you can actually find the XML file.
Once the XML is open in a text editor - search for the known ICAO or search for the Airport header and rename the ICAO there.
Save the XML and open airport from XML and the Airport ID will show as the new named ICAO.
I can post screens shots of the sequence to find and modify settings for anyone who is not familiar with ADE.
Also I can create a new voicepack file for anyone who is familiar with updating airports and callsigns to flightsim.

Changing the ICAO code for an airport is trivially easy in Raw Data View - but you must click on the arrow to the left of airport title in the top left of that view to open the editable fields. You're then presented with a list of properties, every one of which is editable in the display panel to the right of the list. I attach an example of KREE compiled this way, in P3Dv5 Ad4 format. Do with it as you will!

Re: Pave Hawks and White Rockets
I've had another look at this - to use KREE as the ICAO and eliminate 8SX8, you have to delete the airfield using ADE - this produces a bgl that overwrites the the stock airfield with empty space and allows KREE to exist without complications. I've done this and re-done the flight plans substituting KREE for 8SX8 and it works fine. Alternatively, use the modern ICAO and allow a substitute ICAO (an option which should allow flightplans for both ICAO codes to use the airfield). If anyone wants the deleted airfield bgl (and/or the basic KREE AFCAD, slightly modified from the earlier one), give me a shout.

Re: Pave Hawks and White Rockets
If you compile your flight plans with AIFP, or recompile them if you get a compiled bgl flight plan, then AIFP will replace KREE with 8SX8. Then you don't need to do anything with the AFCADs.
But in other cases you may need to do as Tim describes.
