AI help

Post by Joseph29 »

This isn't military AI but civil AI. I do know this forum is for military, but I am having an AI problem that I don't know how to fix.

I use FSPXAI for my AI planes in P3D (v5.4). All of my FSPXAI 737 (700,800, and 900) planes have lost their winglets and scimitars. The winglets and scimitars were showing in the sim a few days ago but now they are gone. Any idea what could have happened? Any ideas on how to get them to show again?

These are the AI planes I am talking about

PS: I did email FSPXAI and few days ago but so far haven't heard back.
PPS: I did ask this question over in the AIG forums and avsim without much luck, so I thought I try here.

Have you considered using the FAIB models instead?

Boeing's 737 Max aircraft have never been known for their reliability... They should be left stored in Seattle.

Lol  :D

From what I remember having read, the reason for this "lack of reliability" might just lie with some pilot's lack of system understanding.

And since the OP designated this thread "AI Help", maybe we should keep to that topic?

Have you checked the texture.cfg files / fallback entries? While I don't personally have these models, the only ones I did buy from them were the A330-600st models... I know other AI models out there use fallback textures and or repainting to determine parts visibility... A classic example of this would be the satcom dome on the FAIB 747SP... Hope that helps...

I like the FSPXAI models better, but I may be forced to switch if I can't figure it out.

Yes, I checked those. I used the newest AI Aircraft Editor.NET tool to do that. Everything was good with those.

The thing is, as I see it, that hardly ever do you see new textures for the FSPXAI models any more, but new textures are coming out for the FAIB models all the time.

I used to have all of the FSPXAI models installed, but now only 3 remain on my system: the A330-700, the A340-500 and a 777-300ER. The 2 Airbuses are there because no-one have made other models for them, and the 777 because of one specific texture.

Well you could always try opening the models in MCX, seeing if there are any vis conds associated with those parts, as well as do a materials check, then re-compile individual models to the specs you need them...

I finally got a response from FSPXAI. He has been getting a lot of emails with the same problem of no winglets/scimitars on the 737-700, 800, and 900's. He is not completely sure what happened, but he thinks it may be due to a windows update. He said one user noticed the problem after a windows update, then reverted back to a previous update and the winglets/scimitars are now showing for him. He is looking into it to see if it is indeed a windows update that caused the problem.
