Formation Question

I have been working on AFCAD, and Traffic Tools lately; it struck my interest as to how MAIW manipulates AI aircraft to do tactical(formation) T/O & landings. Could anyone help exlpain this to me?

The only way i know how to do this is to produce multiple afcads for the same base.

Just tessing you. As Dan said there are a number of posts about formation flights but there are limitations to what you can do with traffic files, afcads and way points.
