For those interested in such things The Qataris, initially, are going to be trained on a new Squadron at Coningsby.
12 Sqn is being reformed there for the RAF front line and to train and provide support for the Qataris before they get their own aircraft.

Keep your eyes peeled for the new sqn markings.

I think your being optimistic with the new squadron markings Steve given how the typhoons are now becoming coded with the numerical part of their reg with no squadron markings at all.

Well that is not what I have seen on 1 and 6 sqn aircraft, CGY still paint sqn markings on theirs. When did they change that?

I know that a certain Wing Commander Eng decided that he wanted to have all his Tornados painted without sqn codes and just a 3 digit number but within a month the sqn markings started coming back.

I visited 11(F) Sqn last September for the Sqn Association reunion. OC11 confirmed that the Typhoon fleet was in the process of having sqn identities removed. This was, at least in part, because of the difficulties of allocating new-spec aircraft to given units, so the station's fleet was to be communally shared between all based units. At the time of the visit, at least 3 sqn's markings (and unmarked aircraft) could be seen on the 11 Sqn line.

First Eurofighter has been built and painted.

The delievery of the first batch is expected for late 2022.
